Do not buy if you have an orthopedic pediatrician as a father. It's flexible the further you get from the heel, but need to apply serious pressure to bend. Would have to cut to size, but you knew that. With MS though there is a desire to stay working your muscles, not just stabilize them.

I was referred to a professional about 12yrs ago to be fitted for a brace for foot drop. I paid almost $300. I had to pay 1/2 out of pocket. It was virtually the same brace. The only thing I see that is different is the set up of the strap. The other has a small rivet attaching the velcro outer strap and the toothy strip glued to the other side of the back part. there is also a cushioned pad glued to the inside of the upper back part. This is something I wish this brace had. If my sock falls beneath it the plastic sticks to my skin. I purchased this one for $33 in black because my original one of 12year had been broken when my young son tried to wear it. My husband riveted it back together. I didn't want to spend $300 out of pocket (braces no longer covered through my insurance company) I love that this is in black. I wear a uniform similar to a police uniform w/navy pants, black socks and black boots. I was so excited when I found this in black. Just the cushion strap inside the brace would be a huge improvement. I thought I would have to return this because the foot support appeared too small as I have a wide foot. I purchased the male left foot and cut it down. But the ankle part to too wide for my female shoes. It fits into the men's boots I have but isn't as comfortable. The heal rubs because it is too big for my foot. My husband made some adjustments to this brace for me. He cut the toe down. (cut it a bit longer than foot) Mine slides forward a bit and is almost too short. I would cut it a bit, wear it a few days then cut down more if needed. Also the top part of the brace was too small for my calf. My husband used a blowtorch to heat the back a bit then strapped it to a cup to reform it. I would caution against this if not experience with heating plastic. Over all I am very please with this $33 brace. Even if it doesn't last 12years like my white one it is affordable to replace every few years. Because it is black and inexpensive and almost the same as I have been wearing for 12 years I would recommend it. Throughout the years I have tried several of the types that pull the toe of the foot up using straps and I keep going back to the bottom support. I rarely trip with this brace and I never fall. One additional thing I would like to point out. The strap when Velcro is in place it does slip down from the brace a bit but this isn't a problem for me because it still supports the foot from underneath. I just tighten it every few hours. But again $33 verses $300 I can live with a few inconveniences. Foot drop in and of itself is an inconvenience.

I have foot drop from an injury. This brace seemed effective at first, it is EXTREMELY uncomfortable on the back of my foot. The plastic is a hard material that makes your foot literally throb in pain from walking with it. I have an AFO toe off brace through prescription and it is so much better. Very upset, I was hoping this would help me. Update: Less than 2 months in and only wearing it when I needed to since it was uncomfortable, it ended up breaking. The plastic snapped, so it’s now ducktaped and superglued for emergency scenarios.

I have had two AFO's custom made for me that cost $1500.00 each years ago and both were so uncomfortable that I just would not wear them. Now I have tendonitis and it is very painful to walk at times especially when I am on my feet all day at work, so I decided to give these a try. They work great and they are comfortable which is very important to me. I would recommend these for anyone that has a drop foot and suffers from ankle tendonitis.

Although the brace is what it states, I found the calf and arch areas are a bit narrow for me. When I find someone with a heat gun, I'm sure I'll be able to mold the plastic to better fit my leg, etc. On the plus side, it does slip easily into my shoe and provides lift when walking. I am confident it will be fine when I make the modification.

This brace did exactly what I needed it to. I am a teacher and on my feet all day. it is not uncomfortable and fits into shoes well. I an no longer tripling due to my foot dropping. BUT it broke after wearing it 6 weeks. I have ordered a replacement. I hope that it will last longer. If not I will switch to a different style.

I had purchased this exact same item a couple years ago. When I decided to get another on, I wanted this exact one. Little did I know, the product now is very flimsy and not as sturdy as it once was. Mine broke the day after I got it.

I have dropfoot due to nerve damage. This has worked great for me. I recommend you invest in a basic elastic ankle strap ( boot straps) this will hold you ankle in place even with your step in skate shoes. Other bit of advice? Keep a thin layer of fabric between your skin and brace. Plastic braces with stick to skin sometimes and can be uncomfortable. I like the black brace as it is more discreet with my work attire and doesn't look bad outside my leggings/ skinny jeans and tights.

Update 1 year later.... I am still using it, but have had to fiddle with the straps 5 or 6 times. The velcro strap doesn't want to stay adhered to the plastic. Otherwise it is still going strong with some guerrilla glue and a binder clip. Lol

My physical therapist recommended I purchased these. I was very very sick and had to learn how to walk all over again. My one problem that I have left is that I cannot pick up my foot in the front in order to take a proper steps. Once I put these in my shoes they help to correct this problem and they are wonderful! They are helping me in more ways than I knew they could.
